Is the Schumann Resonance Rising?

Is the Schumann Resonance rising?

As one who works with subtle energies and frequencies on a daily basis, I’ve been asked this question often.

And the Internet has helped spark this question for untold thousands of people because of a popular meme that claims that the Schumann Resonance (SR) is indeed rising.

But is it really rising?

In response to a recent Facebook post in which it was claimed that the Schumann Resonance was indeed rising, I posted the following respectful comments.

Hopefully, this will help answer the question of whether the Schumann Resonance is increasing decisively, while also offering some additional insight to the Schumann Resonance and its importance to life on Earth.

THE HEARTMATH INSTITUTE

From Annette Deyhle (Phd), Research Co-ordinator for the Heartmath Institute, via http://www.stillnessinthestorm.com/2017/05/heartmath-institute-the-schumann-resonances-are-not-increasing.html (April 25th, 2017):

“There are and always have been 8 different Schumann resonance frequencies. They are the same as they were when first measured in the 1960s. Figure 1 shows most of them, although the highest resonant frequency is not [sic] shown in our data as it is very close to the power line frequency of 60 Hz and is filtered out. If the resonant frequencies were changing it would mean the physical geometry of the Earth-ionosphere cavity was changing. The frequencies can and do change temporarily due to solar storm events, etc. which affects ionosphere shape and conditions, but they return to their base frequencies when things settle down.

“Over many years of monitoring the earth’s magnetic field with the Global Coherence Monitoring System, which uses multiple recording stations strategically located around the earth, we have not observed any evidence for the claim that the frequencies of the Schumann resonances are changing beyond the normal diurnal variation. We also have not seen any evidence reported by other monitoring institutions that there is or has been a fundamental change in the frequency of the Schumann resonances. You can see the live data from the Global Coherence sites at: https://www.heartmath.org/research/global-coherence/gcms-live-data/

“What you will also see when looking at the global data is different parts of the planet have different levels of activity at different times, but the resonant frequencies are quite stable over time. It should also be noted that the power (amplitude) in the various resonant frequency bands does change with an annual rhythm. Especially the 2nd and 3rd resonant frequencies. This has also lead to similar misunderstanding in the past reports that claimed the resonant frequencies were increasing as there are increases in the power of these bands (not frequency) – but when you look over several years you clearly see that it then decreases again with an annual cycle.

“This does not mean that other kinds of “frequencies” related to the shift in consciousness are not increasing – but we cannot measure these, at least yet, and they likely have nothing to do with the Schumann Resonances. For those interested in the deeper science of how the Schumann resonances and other magnetic fields created by the Earth and Sun affect human consciousness, you may enjoy reading the e-book titled The Science of Interconnectivity: http://store.heartmath.org/e-Books/science-of-Interconnectivity.html

IONA MILLER

From Iona Miller, author of “Schumann Resonance, Psychophysical Regulation & Psi

“Earth’s background base frequency, or “heartbeat” (Schumann’s resonances), fluctuates BUT IS NOT RISING dramatically, despite a New Age meme that alleges it. The authors have been unable to substantiate a rising SR in the literature and Ben Lonetree’s readings directly contradict it. SR is stable; it is NOT rising. Those who say it is are ignorant, dis- or mis- informed and parroting the mistakes or lies of others. Though it varies between geographical regions, for decades the overall measurement has remained 7.8 cycles per second.”

Editor’s Note: We don’t necessarily agree with Iona Miller here in calling people ignorant. Nevertheless, we publish her full quote in order to point out her emphatic point regarding the claim that the Schumann Resonance is rising.

DR. MICHAEL PERSINGER #1

In the video, No More Secrets: Scientist Says the Earth’s Magnetic Field will Enable Telepathy on a Global Scale, Dr. Michael Persinger shares that his theory and evidence for both individual and global telepathy hinges on the Earth-human coupling effect that occurs whenever the 7 Hz to 8 Hz range of frequencies is introduced to human biology. He offers experimental evidence for this Earth-human coupling effect as well. Find out more about Dr. Persinger’s discoveries about the Schumann Resonance and its field effects on human health. So, if the fundamental Schumann Resonance is truly rising (and it isn’t), why does this Earth-human coupling phenomenon, which occurs reliably and demonstrably every time the 7 Hz to 8 Hz range of frequencies (i.e., the base Schumann Resonance) is introduced to human biology, continue to emerge in controlled scientific experiments? Nobel laureate Luc Montagnier also used the 7 Hz to 8 Hz range of frequencies to successfully “teleport” DNA from one glass beaker to another.

THE FUNDAMENTAL SR NEED NOT BE CHANGED

Even if there are some partial measurements that seem to show that the Schumann Resonance is rising, this does not mean what most people assume it means: There are multiple Schumann Resonances, of which 7.83 Hz is the base frequency. There is no evidence that it has disappeared as a base frequency. And as I mentioned, 7.83 Hz continues to demonstrably invoke a human-Earth coupling effect in scientific and experimental studies. The main point here, though, is that, even if one of the multiple Schumann Resonances was rising, it would not need to affect the base 7.83 Hz frequency. And the fact that experimental evidence continues to show an Earth-human coupling effect with the introduction of frequencies in the range of 7 to 8 Hz demonstrates that the base Schumann Resonance has not changed. Enjoy the benefits of our app, Earth Pulse, a Schumann Resonance Generator. It also uses a basis of 7.83 Hz.

DR. MICHAEL PERSINGER #2

Dr. Michael Persinger has pointed out that there is a harmonic relationship between the Schumann Resonance, the diameter of the human skull and that of the Earth. If the Schumann Resonance was changing, both the diameter of the human skull and the Earth would also have to change. It is this harmonic relationship between the Schumann Resonance waveform, the human skull and the Earth that facilitates a mutual resonance between the three.

40+ Hz = HIGHER CONSCIOUSNESS?

One of the erroneous ideas that accompanies this notion that the Schumann Resonance is rising is that such a rise indicates a corresponding rise in consciousness. While there may be a kernel of truth to this idea, it’s more complicated than anyone who teaches this idea ever explains. If humans were to walk around with brains that were predominantly operating at 40 Hz around the clock, they’d be deeply stressed out, paranoid and would get little to no sleep. Although it is true that some higher states of conscious are associated with 40+ Hz brainwaves, this does not at all mean that all 40+ brain wave patterns are correlated with higher states of consciousness. And the human brain is not designed to operate at just the 40+ Hz range of brain wave frequencies. Indeed, there are multiple Schumann Resonances (7.83 Hz, 14 Hz, 21 Hz, 26 Hz, 33 Hz, 39 Hz, 45 Hz and 59 Hz), two of which are ALREADY focused in the 40 Hz range. These frequencies ALREADY cover the same basic range in which the human brain operates.

THE ELECTROSMOG PROBLEM

If there is a rise in any of the Schumann Resonances, it seems likely that it is associated with the corresponding increase in electrosmog that has grown greatly with the increase of the modern technological age. And such electrosmog will likely only increase. Such an increase in electrosmog may in fact disturb the electromagnetic and subtle energetic rhythms associated with the Schumann Resonance. If this is the case, then such a rise in SOME aspects of the Schumann Resonance (rather than, as this Internet myth would have us believe is a TOTAL rise in the Schumann Resonance) would indicate NOT a rise in consciousness but an actual DETRIMENT to consciousness. Fortunately, we are developing better technologies to mitigate this electrosmog and transmute it into something that is beneficial to living systems. It just needs to be implemented on a global scale.

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, the fundamental Schumann Resonance is not rising. As was mentioned earlier, a rise in global consciousness would not necessarily require a corresponding rise in the Schumann Resonance.

And the actual energies that could corroborate a genuine rise in global consciousness cannot, at this moment in time, be measured using conventional electromagnetic instruments.

The following video, created by Iona Miller (the author of “Schumann Resonance, Psychophysical Regulation & Psi“), offers additional evidence to show conclusively that the Schumann Resonance is not rising and explains more about the Schumann Resonance frequency.
