Who was Thomas Galen Hieronymus? Some see him as a pseudoscientist, while others view him as a pioneer. He spent his life studying what he termed to be “eloptic energy,” a mysterious force similar to the “orgone energy” proposed by another controversial scientist known as Wilhelm Reich.
Most scientists consider orgone energy to be pseudo-scientific, but only because they have not followed the necessary protocols to both produce and detect the presence of orgone energy.
Hieronymus’s claims of eloptic energy were similar to Reich’s claims of orgone in the following two ways:
- A Unique Form of Radiation: Both Hieronymus and Reich claimed that the energy they had discovered was a type of radiation that emanated from all materials.
- Strange Energy Devices: Both Hieronymus and Reich claimed to have built devices capable of manipulating the specific energy gradient they had discovered.
The Hieronymus Machine
Unlike Reich, however, Hieronymus was able to get a patent for his device. His patent (patent 2,482,773) was for a device designed to detect emanations of eloptic energy from various materials.
Hieronymus later began corresponding with John Wood Campbell, Jr., an editor of Astounding Science Fiction magazine in the 1950’s.
Campbell became convinced that the Heironymus Machine could do many amazing things, including influence people from a distance.
At one point, Campbell contacted Hieronymus to inform him that he had discovered that the Hieronymus Machine did not even have to be assembled for it to work. All that was needed was to simply draw the Hieronymus Diagram on a piece of paper, and the diagram itself performed as a fully functional Hieronymus Machine.
The difference between the drawn Symbolic Hieronymus Machine and the fully built Hieronymus Machine was that the fully built machine was powered by both modern electricity and the operator’s own bioelectrical energy, whereas the symbolic, drawn machine was powered solely by the operator’s own consciousness and bioelectrical energy field.
This claim may seem ludicrous, but when you take the time to study and experiment with principles such as shape power and symbols as emanations of energy, this claim is neither unique nor unbelievable. It’s just a matter of fact. That’s how the world really works.
The fully built Machine itself is simple. It consists of simple electronics, two sample wells, an indicator, several dials, and a “stick plate”.
The stick plate is used by placing the fingers on the plate and slowly moving them back and forth while adjusting the dials in order to “tune in” to a specific energy gradient. When the fingers “stick” to the plate, this indicates that the dial has been properly tuned to the chosen energy gradient. Thus, the stick plate was a high-tech form of “dowsing” or “kinesiology,” in which the body’s response to a specific device serves as an indicator of the presence of whatever is being tested.
Using this eloptic energy, Hieronymus claimed to have been able to:
- Grow healthy plants in complete darkness.
- Kill corn ear worms at a distance.
- Influence human health at a distance.
Although scientists claim that there is no scientific evidence for the efficacy of devices like the Hieronymus Machine, multitudes of people use these kinds of devices daily and continue to do so because they experience these devices as having positive effects on their lives.
In fact, other radionic devices similar to the Hieronymus Machine are used quite extensively by some corporate farmers for their positive benefits in yielding healthier crops and livestock.
While we at Subtle Energy Sciences absolutely love science, we also understand that both the scientific community and the scientific method can be deeply limited in how these kinds of very real phenomena are treated. As such, to this day, the Hieronymus Machine is foolishly delegated to the realm of pseudoscience, when it could in fact be the basis for an entirely new understanding of health, healing and energy.
